📍 Siparia (around the La Divina Pastora Catholic Church)
Description
Annually, in the town of Siparia, there is a commemoration of an Easter Sunday pilgrimage in which Hindus, Muslims, Roman Catholics and other Christian faiths, congregate at the Siparia La Divina Pastora Church to pay homage to Siparee Mai Ke Mala, a statue of La Divina Pastora.
Points of Interest
Devotees believe that the statue grants fertility to barren women, blesses marriages with success, heals the sick and blesses those in need. The festival is celebrated over the Holy Thursday and Good Friday days on the Catholic Calendar. As part of the celebrations, market stalls outside the church sell items related to the festival. The celebration is also marked by a community festival, the Siparia Fete, with food, and music.
