African Emancipation Day- August 1
The nation bands together to commemorate the abolition of slavery and the enduring legacy of African culture.
Visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of cultural events, especially the Emancipation Day parade which includes dancing through the streets to infectious African drumming and singing. There is also the Lidj Yasu Omowale Emancipation Village with various exhibition booths showcasing everything from African fashion, art, and dance performances and even reenactments.
